Cigdem Knebel

Cigdem Knebel is a writer, publisher, and advocate for accessible literacy, dedicated to supporting children with dyslexia and reluctant readers. Inspired by her own experience as the parent of a dyslexic child, she began writing when she struggled to find engaging, decodable chapter books for her 7-year-old son.

She is the founder of Simple Words Books, a publishing initiative focused on helping young readers build fluency, comprehension, and—most importantly—reading confidence. Through a range of fiction titles and phonics-based, decodable workbooks, Cigdem creates resources specifically designed to support children with dyslexia in developing their literacy skills in an accessible and enjoyable way.

Cigdem is passionate about changing perceptions around reading and dyslexia. She believes that all children can learn to love reading when given the right tools and support, and her work reflects a commitment to helping every child find joy, confidence, and success in their reading journey.
